P1000472-2Baynes Spinning Wheels are owned and operated by the Bebbington family, based in Ashburton, centrally located in the South Island of New Zealand.  We were established in 1974 and are still taking great pride in manufacturing popular wheels for beginners and experienced spinners alike. We are  mainly mailorder specialists and are able to supply beautifully finished and functional wheels handmade in New Zealand at very realistic prices.

These popular wheels are available in a single drive (scotch tension) or a double drive wheel which includes a scotch tension mode.  They are of compact design and are easily transported on the seat of your car. The base unit has three widely spaced legs for maximum stability.

Both models have a pinch and slide flyer hook and with bobbins that are able to be removed and replaced quickly without disturbing the driving cords.

Single or double treadles are available on both models.  The treadles are placed in a position for your foot to work with a smooth heel and toe action, with the flyer directly in front of the spinner.

Spare bobbins are mounted on both machines for easy storage and plying and are held firmly in place while spinning or transporting.

Timber used for the majority of the parts is New Zealand Silver Beech, with the main wheel rim and bobbin ends are of timber veneered medium density fiberboard...

The main wheel is 26mm (1”) thick, machined to form a one piece rim for greater stability, with eight wooden spokes and centre hub.  A built in threading hook with a wooden handle is included.

The main unit parts are factory assembled with the rest of the assembly taking approximately 30 minutes by following our easy, step by step instructions.
